Installing M-DRO Console to a Chester Mill/Drill Machine (Customer Images)

We have received some great pictures from a Machine-DRO customer who has spent some time installing his new M-DRO DRO Console (Part No: DRO-140-M72-MM) and is very happy with the outcome after doing a test run.

Our customer had this to say: ‘I used a selection of the brackets supplied and was able to create a very acceptable installation. The long travel head and scale was installed using a combination of standard brackets. The flat plate (supplied) on which I mounted the cross travel reading head was machined to accommodate the taper on the machine base casting to bring it vertical. The cross travel scale was fixed to an aluminium plate as can be seen in the photo of the installation. (The power travel unit is removed in the photo)’

    What is a Height Gauge?

It does exactly what the name indicates – height gauges measure the height of an item/workpiece. It is a measuring tool which operates with a sliding measuring stylus and moves along a vertical axis relative to a measuring scale on a beam. As the stylus slides up/down, the reading will move up and down, depending on how tall or short the workpiece you are measuring is. They are typically used on a heavy surface plate with an accurately flat, smooth underside to keep the height gauge stable when measuring to maintain an accurate reading.

Generally, a scriber, test indicator or touch probe is used to assist in marking out the measurement on the workpiece and are often a popular instrument for quality control purposes. As well as electronic height gauges, there are three basic types of mechanical height gauges which are; Vernier Height Gauges, Dial Height Gauges

    Digital Readout Adaptor Cables

Adaptor cables allow the interconnection between different brands of Digital Readout consoles and scales, usually ex stock from the UK.

If you have a faulty readout console or faulty linear scale, it is more economical to replace the one faulty part with an M-DRO scale or console.

Connecting this with your existing working equipment, to do this you may require one of our M-DRO Adaptor Cables, this will ensure the connections and signals are correct.

M-DRO scales and Consoles which use a 5V Quadrature TTL signal which is now cross-compatible with many manufacturers such as, Acu-Rite, Anilam, Mitutoyo, Electronica, Fagor and Easson.

With no modification to existing equipment, just by simply using an adaptor cable, as it keeps both the console and encoders standard.

This allows for an easy upgrade in the equipment

Our Products Helped Create The 3-Wheeled Tilting Bike – (As seen on The Gadget Show!)

When it comes to creating big innovative projects that require the best and most precise measuring tools available, we were extremely excited to see Mike’s finished project was going to look like when he mentioned he was going to create a 3-Wheeled Tilting Vehicle. Accurate measurements were key to building and completing the project on-hand, which is why Mike turned to Machine-DRO for his reliable purchases of an Encoder and a Left Handed Caliper.

Thankfully, the 3-Wheeled Tilting Vehicle was a great success and is fully functioning, demonstrating clean cornering and manoeuvrability. It has become such a great success that it has created quite a lot of attention amongst petrol heads & engineers, so much so that it has even appeared on MCN and the hit TV program, The Gadget Show!

To see the 3-Wheeled Tilting Vehicle in action, please
